Construction Commences on 400 Megawatt Solar Power Plant in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is set to welcome a new solar power plant boasting a capacity of 400 megawatts in the Issyk-Kul region.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Akylbek Zhaparov, the head of the country’s cabinet of ministers.

“Our objective is to achieve energy independence. The completion of the first phase of work on Kambarata HPP-1 marks a significant milestone. Once operational, this facility will establish Kyrgyzstan as a leading hydropower state in the region. Embracing solar energy, alongside wind and biogas technologies, stands as a cornerstone priority for the Cabinet of Ministers,” expressed Akylbek Japarov.

The construction of the station is slated to receive approximately $400 million in investments, with a prominent Chinese company serving as the investor. It is anticipated that the power plant will commence operations within the span of eighteen months.
