Astana Prepares to Welcome 2024 World Nomad Games with 3,000 Athletes from 100 Nations

The pearl of Central Asia, Astana city, is poised to host the prestigious 2024 World Nomad Games, scheduled to take place from September 8th to 14th, attracting over 3,000 athletes representing 100 countries.

Preparations for the 5th edition of the World Nomad Games are well underway, with eager spectators already purchasing tickets and tours to witness the exhilarating event slated for September 2024.

Nail Nurov, Chairman of the 2024 World Nomad Games Preparation and Organizing Committee, shared insights into the meticulous planning behind the grand spectacle in a statement to Kazinform News Agency.

The countdown has officially begun for the much-anticipated 5th World Nomad Games. Nurov emphasized that the Committee has undertaken comprehensive preparations, meticulously addressing all facets ranging from infrastructure enhancements in Astana to logistical arrangements, accommodation, and catering services for participating athletes. While acknowledging some challenges along the way, Nurov reassured that these hurdles were perceived as surmountable obstacles by the organizers.

Initiating the planning process a year and a half ago, Nurov highlighted that each country will be represented by a single national team, with a diverse program comprising 20 competitive sports and 10 demonstration events.

The sports lineup for the World Nomad Games in Astana will showcase a rich tapestry of cultural heritage, featuring enthralling disciplines such as horse racing, traditional wrestling, intellectual games, martial arts, archery, falconry, folk dances, and ethnic sports.

President Nurov underscored that beyond the competitive spirit, the games will serve as a platform for cultural exchange and celebration of nomadic traditions. Cultural exhibitions and events will spotlight nomadic heritage, including demonstrations of yurt-building, folk music performances, and captivating dance showcases.
