Türkiye Conducts Successful Test Flight of Bayraktar KALKAN VTOL-UAV
Baykar Makina has announced the successful flight testing of the Bayraktar KALKAN, a vertical take-off landing UAV drone designed for crucial roles in reconnaissance missions.
The Bayraktar KALKAN, equipped to conduct reconnaissance operations, underwent testing up to an altitude of 14,500 feet (4,400 m) and completed a seven-hour flight successfully.
Powered by four electric motors and one low-power gasoline engine, the Bayraktar KALKAN utilizes vertical take-off with electric motors, transitioning into cruising mode solely with the gasoline engine.
Featuring vertical take-off and landing capabilities, the Bayraktar KALKAN can operate effortlessly from bases and floating platforms without requiring a runway. Furthermore, it excels in reconnaissance, surveillance, and target detection tasks both day and night.
