Kazakhstan Launches ‘Unity in Strength’ Campaign During Flood Response

As Kazakhstan continues its efforts in flood control, local volunteers are stepping up to provide vital assistance.

Since the onset of the flooding, the Ministry of Culture and Information, alongside the National Volunteer Network and various volunteer organizations, have initiated the ‘Unity in Strength’ campaign. According to Gulbara Sultanova, Chairman of the Committee on Civil Society Affairs at the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan, speaking at a press conference, volunteer headquarters have been established across all regions, engaging over 20,000 volunteers.

To streamline assistance efforts, a centralized contact center has been established along with regional hubs to organize and deploy volunteers effectively to aid flood victims. A coordinated protocol for volunteer engagement during regional emergencies has also been devised.

“Volunteers are actively involved in evacuating citizens from flood-affected areas, providing initial medical aid, distributing food and essential supplies, and participating in humanitarian aid collection. Additionally, media volunteers are disseminating crucial information about the flood situation in respective regions,” Sultanova explained.

Across 13 regions of the country, collection centers for humanitarian aid have been set up, with an operational group formed to manage and guide the aid collection process.
