Over 14,000 People Left Without Power in Uzbekistan Following Severe Rainfall

Due to rainfall in the Samarkand and Jizzakh regions, an accident occurred in the power grid.

As a result of heavy rain in the Samarkand region today at 06:45, 15 power transmission networks with a voltage of 6-10 kV failed, reports the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Сonsumers in the Urgut and Pastdargom districts (13 thousand 700 people), as well as small industrial enterprises, were left without electricity supply.

At 10:03 this fault was eliminated and power supply to consumers was fully restored.

Also at 7:50 am, due to heavy rain in the Jizzakh region, 11 power transmission networks with a voltage of 6-10 kV were damaged.

As a result, consumers in the Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Pakhtakor and Zaamin regions were partially disconnected from power supply (2 thousand 250 households).

“Currently, despite unfavorable weather conditions (heavy rain and wind), special teams are eliminating this malfunction,” the department said in a statement.
