Sweden to Officially Join NATO as 32nd Member on March 11

Sweden is set to officially become the 32nd member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on March 11, marking a significant milestone in the country's foreign policy.

An official ceremony is scheduled to take place at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, to commemorate Sweden’s accession to the alliance. During the ceremony, the Swedish flag will be raised alongside those of other member states, symbolizing Sweden’s full membership in NATO.

The approval process for Sweden’s NATO membership was finalized with the Hungarian National Assembly’s endorsement on February 26, receiving unanimous support from all NATO allies.

Sweden’s decision to join NATO reflects a strategic shift in its defense and security policy. The country officially submitted its application for NATO membership on May 18, 2022, signaling its commitment to closer cooperation and integration within the transatlantic security framework.
