In a move to promote the Kyrgyz language and comply with the constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the State Language,” short cartoons in the Kyrgyz language are set to entertain commuters on public transport in Bishkek. The decision was announced by the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the Bishkek City Hall, following a meeting with key stakeholders.
The decision-making process involved discussions with notable figures such as Kanybek Osmonaliev, Chairman of the National Commission on State Language and Language Policy under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Maksatbek Sazykulov, Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Elvira Niyazbekova, Head of the State Language Development Department of the Bishkek City Hall, Talant Kaparova, Acting Head of the Bishkek Passenger Motor Transport Enterprise MP, and representatives from the road sector.
The initiative aims to align with the constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the State Language.” By featuring short cartoons in the Kyrgyz language during public transport journeys, the city seeks to create a more linguistically inclusive and engaging environment for its residents.
