The Turkish-Uzbek Business Forum recently convened in Ankara. The event, attended by representatives from the business communities of both nations, garnered attention as Vice President of Türkiye, Cevdet Yilmaz, underscored its pivotal role, TuraNews.kz reports.
The Vice President Yilmaz’s emphasis on the forum’s significance, highlighting Uzbekistan’s notable position as the third-largest exporter of Turkish products and the fifth-largest importer. Yilmaz expressed optimism about elevating these trade figures. Notably, the year 2022 witnessed a noteworthy upswing, with mutual trade volume reaching $3.5 billion, accompanied by Turkish investments in Uzbekistan surging to $1.5 billion. Furthermore, the presence of over 1,700 Turkish companies operating across diverse regions in Uzbekistan demonstrates the robust economic ties between the two nations.
TRT Haber agency reported key statistics from the forum, revealing that Turkish contractors have successfully executed 262 projects amounting to $6.9 billion in Uzbekistan. Among these projects are prominent landmarks such as Tashkent City, Pyramit Tower, and Akay City.
The forum’s significance was further underscored by the signing of eight memorandums of cooperation across various fields. These agreements mark a commitment to deepen collaboration and foster economic growth between Türkiye and Uzbekistan, reflecting the shared commitment to mutual prosperity.
