In Uzbekistan, railway authorities have recently declared a special promotion granting a 50 percent discount on tickets. This generous offer is set to be applicable from December 25, 2023, to January 7, 2024. The announcement has garnered significant enthusiasm among students, with over a thousand tickets sold on the very first day, TuraNews.kz reports.
Responding to the unexpectedly high demand, authorities have taken proactive measures to enhance the travel experience. According to the press service of the Uzbekistan’s Railways, additional trains and wagons will be introduced to accommodate the surge in passengers.
It is important to note that the discounted rates are not applicable to luxury cars and high-speed Afrosiab trains. To avail of the special pricing, students can conveniently purchase their tickets either in person at the railway ticket office, presenting their passport and student ID, or online through the eticket.railway.uz platform.
Railway officials have specified that the expanded train services will cover various routes, including:
Tashkent – Urgench
Tashkent – Nukus
Tashkent – Samarkand
Tashkent – Karshi
To cater to the increased demand, existing train schedules will also witness the addition of extra carriages. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother and more accessible travel for students during the festive season.
