Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Agree to Prepare Technical Specifications for Green Energy Export Project

Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan have agreed to prepare technical specifications and a joint venture for the export of “green” energy, TuraNews.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The corresponding agreement was reached at a meeting of the ministers of energy and economy of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan held in Baku. The meeting discussed the prospects for exporting electricity from Central Asian countries to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan.

Following the meeting, the heads of departments signed a joint communiqué, in which they noted the countries’ potential in the field of renewable energy and their readiness to join the project of exporting electricity obtained from alternative sources to Europe.

The participants agreed to create a joint working group to develop terms of reference for cooperation in the field of energy exchange with an emphasis on renewable energy sources; in the field of opportunities for the development and export of green hydrogen and green ammonia and the creation of related infrastructure.

The Ministry of Energy noted that on the basis of the developed and approved technical specifications, a tender for the preparation of a preliminary feasibility study will be announced. The participants also agreed to explore the prospect of creating a joint venture to implement the project.
