French Voltalia Signs Deals with Uzbekistan Government for Hybrid Solar-Wind Power Plants

The French company Voltalia has inked agreements with the Uzbekistan government for the establishment of two hybrid solar-wind power plants, TuraNews.kz reports.

The combined capacity of these plants, spread across two regions, is set to reach an impressive 623 MW, according to information from Energy Storage News.

The collaborative effort gained momentum during the recent visit of the French President to Uzbekistan, where both parties demonstrated their commitment to the project’s expansion. This includes the addition of a 100 MW wind farm and the implementation of an energy storage system.

Uzbekistan’s ambitious renewable energy targets were underscored in this partnership, aligning with their objective to achieve 8 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2026 and an even more ambitious target of 12 GW by the year 2030. The Voltalia project is poised to contribute significantly to Uzbekistan’s renewable energy portfolio, marking a notable stride towards the country’s sustainable energy goals.
