First meeting of working group on Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye multimodal corridor held

The first meeting of the high-level working group on the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye (TUTIT) + China multimodal corridor was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Monday, under the auspices of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Turanews.kz reports.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the five countries involved in the corridor, as well as China. The parties discussed issues of development and promotion of this international transit corridor, with the goal of increasing cargo transportation and simplifying trade procedures, especially for landlocked countries.

Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, noted that Tajikistan is making efforts to develop transport and logistics to ensure international trade. He also said that the TUTIT corridor is effective in terms of reducing distances and reducing the cost of transporting goods compared to existing corridors.

The TUTIT corridor is a new route for transporting goods from China to Türkiye via Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran. It was introduced in October 2022 and is seen as an important development for regional trade and cooperation.
