International Theater Festival celebrates 100th anniversary of Baken Kydykeeva in Bishkek

On September 25, the IX International Theater Festival “ART-ORDO – 2023” opened in Bishkek, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the People’s Artist of the USSR Baken Kydykeeva, Turanews.kz reports.

The event was attended by Secretary of State Suyunbek Kasmambetov, First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Kairat Imanaliev, General Secretary of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, cultural and artistic figures and trade unions of theaters participating in the festival.

Theaters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Karakalpakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan are participating in the festival with one or two performances staged over the past two years by one or two theater groups.

2023 has been declared by the international organization TURKSOY as the year of Baken Kydykeeva and cultural events will be held throughout the Turkic world in honor of the people’s artist.

The festival will run until September 29 and will feature a variety of performances, including traditional and contemporary plays, musicals, and operas. There will also be a number of workshops and masterclasses led by experienced theater professionals.
