TIKA establishes Turkish language class at Lev Gumilev Eurasian National University in Kazakhstan

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has established a Turkish language class at Lev Gumilev Eurasian National University, one of the largest universities in Kazakhstan.

The opening ceremony of the classroom, which is located on the main campus of the university, was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Astana Mustafa Kapucu, Lev Gumilev Eurasian National University Rector Yerlan Sıdıkov, Astana Embassy Education Counselor Ömer İnan, TIKA Kazakhstan Coordinator Hüseyin Hikmet Özdenoğlu, faculty members, and students, Turanews.kz reports.

The classroom is designed with traditional Turkish motifs and equipped with the necessary equipment for lessons. It will be open to students studying in the Turcology department of the university and other students interested in Turkish.

In his speech at the opening, Ambassador Kapucu said that the cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan continues in every field and that the two countries need to use their potential to further develop these relations.

TIKA Coordinator Özdenoğlu also stated that TIKA attaches importance to the popularization of Turkish in Kazakhstan. He said that language unity is very important to enable university students, the young population of Kazakhstan, to get closer to Türkiye. He added that TIKA gives priority to Turkish classes as much as possible to ensure this language unity.

Özdenoğlu also said that Lev Gumilev Eurasian National University is one of the largest and most distinguished universities in the country and that there is a great demand for Turkish in this university, which has approximately 25,000 students. He said that TIKA launched the class to meet this demand and that instructors from Türkiye will be teaching Turkish to students in the best way.

The ceremony ended with Turkish poems and songs read by the students.
