President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan took center stage at the 5th Consultative Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event, which was reported by Kazinform citing Akorda, marked a significant gathering of leaders from the region, Turanews.kz reports.
In his address, President Tokayev conveyed his optimism about the summit’s potential to shape the course of multifaceted cooperation in the region. He highlighted the success of the consultative meeting format, underscoring its effectiveness and promising prospects for the future.
“It is encouraging that the format of consultative meetings turned out to be viable and became a truly effective platform with great prospects,” President Tokayev remarked.
President Tokayev also stressed the steady expansion of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation among Central Asian nations. Business contacts have intensified, leading to a rise in the number of joint enterprises. Notably, major regional projects are not only generating mutual benefits but also exerting a positive influence on the overall Central Asian economy. This, he noted, is made possible by an active and trustful political dialogue that allows for the constructive resolution of various issues.
“Over the past five years, the intraregional trade turnover has risen by more than 80%, reaching 10.6 billion,” President Tokayev stated. He emphasized the untapped potential for further enhancing trade among Central Asian countries.
