The tourism sector in Türkiye is expected to extend its season thanks to strong demand from Germany and Russia, according to the president of the Federation of Hotels of Türkiye (TÜROFED) Mehmet Isler, Turanews.kz reports citing Anadolu Agency.
Isler said that the country’s tourism sector has reached its expected level since August, and he believes that the goal of bringing 60 million tourists to Türkiye in 2023 will be met.
“After our country went through difficult times, the flow of reservations slowed down. And after July, Türkiye’s tourism began to achieve the expected results. First of all, it depends on bookings for August, September and October. And now, due to favorable weather, we expect the season to be longer,” Ishler said.
He noted that the tourism sector was severely damaged by the February earthquake in southeast Türkiye, but that the country still remains a popular holiday destination for German and Russian tourists.
“We are seeing development in countries that were not our target market before. Activity has started in South-East Asia, especially China. We see the formation of tourist flow from the Latin American and American markets. This year, as usual, Germany and Russia are still in the lead,” Isler said.
He added that Türkiye aims to increase the flow of tourists to 100 million people per year by 2030.
