Kazakhstan thwarts terrorist attacks

The Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Seisembayev, said that at least two terrorist attacks have been prevented in Kazakhstan this year, Turanews.kz reports.

Seisembayev made the remarks at the 40th meeting of the SCO RATS Council in Astana. He said that the attacks were thwarted at an early stage of preparation.

One of the attacks involved an attempt to detonate an improvised explosive device in the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi in Turkestan. The other attack involved an armed attack in crowded places in Astana.

Seisembayev said that the information the NSC receives suggests that the terrorist threats to SCO member states are formed under the influence of a number of factors. These factors include the spread of extremist ideology, the activities of terrorist groups, and the instability in some regions of the world.

The Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ermek Sagimbayev, also took part in the meeting. He said that the NSC is working to strengthen the security of Kazakhstan and to prevent terrorist attacks.

The prevention of terrorist attacks is a top priority for the government of Kazakhstan. The NSC is working closely with law enforcement agencies and other government bodies to ensure the security of the country.
