Uzbekistan is investing $7.5 billion in renewable energy projects, this was announced by Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat Akmaljon Kuchkarov, Turanews.kz reports.
Kuchkarov said that more than 10 projects for the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 15 gigawatts have been implemented and are under implementation in the republic. He added that by 2025, Uzbekistan intends to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy balance to 20%.
The ambassador also said that photovoltaic panels will be installed in the homes of 37,000 people across the country this year as part of the Solar House program being implemented.
The investment in renewable energy is part of Uzbekistan’s efforts to diversify its energy mix and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. The country has abundant solar and wind resources, which make them ideal for renewable energy generation.
The Solar House program is a government initiative to promote the use of solar energy in households. The program provides subsidies for the installation of solar panels, and it is expected to benefit thousands of families across the country.
