Uzbekistan imports 7,391 electric vehicles in January-July 2023
Uzbekistan imported 7,391 electric vehicles worth $217.1 million in January-July 2023, Turanews.kz reports.
According to preliminary data from the Agency on Statistics. This represents a 6,084-unit increase, or almost a six-fold increase, from the same period last year
China was the top source of imported electric vehicles, with 6,898 units, followed by Hong Kong (376 units), Germany (64 units), Korea (18 units), the UAE (16 units), and the USA (11 units).
The increase in imports of electric vehicles is in line with the government’s goal of promoting the use of cleaner energy sources. Uzbekistan has set a target of having 100,000 electric vehicles on its roads by 2030.
The government has also offered a number of incentives to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles, such as tax breaks and subsidies.
The increased imports of electric vehicles are also being driven by rising fuel prices. The price of gasoline in Uzbekistan has been rising steadily in recent months, making electric vehicles a more attractive option for many consumers.
The influx of electric vehicles is expected to have a positive impact on the environment. Electric vehicles produce zero emissions, which can help to reduce air pollution.
The increased demand for electric vehicles is also creating new opportunities for businesses in Uzbekistan. A number of companies are now importing, assembling, and selling electric vehicles in the country.
