Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov met with representatives of the Barcelona football club on Tuesday, led by club president Joan Laporta. The meeting took place at the presidential residence in Bishkek, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of Presidency of Republib of Kyrgyzstan.
Laporta and the Barcelona delegation are in Kyrgyzstan to open a new football academy in Jalal-Abad and to participate in a number of other events.
During the meeting, Japarov expressed his admiration for the Barcelona club and its players. He said that the Kyrgyz people have followed the club’s successes for many years, and that the players are true legends of the sport.
Laporta thanked Japarov for his hospitality and for the opportunity to open a football academy in Kyrgyzstan. He said that the academy will use the same teaching methodology as the main branch of the Barcelona academy, and that it will help to develop football in Kyrgyzstan.
Japarov and Laporta leaders also discussed the upcoming match between the Barcelona Legends and the Legends of Asia, which will be held on Wednesday at the D. Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek. Laporta said that the Barcelona Legends are preparing hard for the match and that they want to put on a good show for the fans.
Japarov said that the doors of Kyrgyzstan are always open to world football stars, and that he hopes that the Barcelona Legends will visit Kyrgyzstan again in the future.
