Presidents of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan discuss bilateral relations, hold cultural events

The working visit of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Astana has ended. During the trip, the two presidents held bilateral meetings, visited an exhibition, an agricultural fair, the main mosque of the capital, and opened the Days of Culture of Tajikistan in Kazakhstan, Turanews.kz reports.

The presidents of the two countries held talks in Akorda in a narrow format and in an expanded format. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the visit of Emomali Rahmon, which is of great importance in terms of promoting friendly relations between fraternal states. The President of Tajikistan, in turn, expressed readiness to discuss the state and prospects of relations, as well as international and regional issues.

The President of Kazakhstan stressed that friendly relations with Tajikistan are very valued in Kazakhstan, and noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations in all spheres, including cooperation in the water and energy complex.

“We are grateful to you and the Tajik side in general for timely and punctual decisions related to the fulfillment of obligations in the water and energy sector, in particular, related to the supply of water and electricity to Kazakhstan. For its part, Kazakhstan fulfills all its obligations, which we agreed on during your visit,” he stressed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the Head of Kazakhstan, according to the results of 6 months of this year, the trade turnover between the countries exceeded 500 million US dollars. At the same time, it is planned to increase the volume of mutual trade to 2 billion US dollars.

The two leaders also discussed the development of digital technologies in the two countries. The President of Kazakhstan noted that Kazakhstan has made significant progress in this area, and offered to share its experience with Tajikistan. Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude for the assistance and said that Tajikistan is interested in developing digital technologies.

The two presidents also attended the opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event featured performances by traditional Tajik dance ensembles and singers.

At the end of the working visit, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly said goodbye to President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the capital’s airport.

The visit of the President of Tajikistan to Kazakhstan was a successful one. The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to developing friendly and mutually beneficial relations. The visit also helped to promote cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
