Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov will play in a football match between the teams “Legends of Asia” and the “Legends of Barcelona” on August 30 at the stadium named after D. Omurzakov in Bishkek, Turanews.kz reports citing Kaktus Media.
The exhibition game is part of a series of events organized by Barcelona to promote the club’s football academy in Kyrgyzstan. The academy will open on August 29 in Jalal-Abad and will be the first of its kind in the CIS countries.
The “Legends of Barcelona” team will feature some of the club’s most famous players, including Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Carles Puyol, and Edgar Davids. The “Legends of Asia” team has not yet been announced, but it is expected to include players from Kyrgyzstan and other Asian countries.
The match is expected to be a sell-out, with tickets priced from two thousand to eight thousand soms. The proceeds from the match will go to the Barcelona Football Academy.
Japarov is a keen football fan and has played for the Kyrgyz national team in the past. He is also a former professional wrestler and mixed martial artist.
