Kazakhstan and Vietnam have signed an agreement on a mutual visa-free regime, allowing citizens of both countries to stay in each other’s territory for up to 30 days from the date of crossing the border and 90 days within three months, Turanews.kz reports.
The agreement was signed on August 21 in Vietnam, where Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is on an official visit. The draft document was previously published on the Open NLA website.
The agreement is valid for an indefinite period and will enter into force after 30 calendar days from the date of receipt through diplomatic channels of the last written notification of the completion by the Parties of the domestic procedures necessary for its entry into force.
The signing of the agreement is a significant step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. It is expected to boost tourism, trade, and investment between the two countries.
In addition to the visa-free agreement, Tokayev and Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also signed a number of other documents, including:
- A joint action plan for the accelerated development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries for 2023-2025;
- A memorandum on cooperation in the field of tourism;
- A memorandum on cooperation in the field of development of e-commerce and postal activities between Kazpost JSC and Viet Post Corporation;
- A memorandum on cooperation in the field of investments in oil and gas projects between JSC “NC “KazMunayGas” and Sovico Group;
- A memorandum on cooperation in the field of development of transport and logistics infrastructure between KTZ JSC and Sovico Group;
- A memorandum of cooperation between the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Crystal Bay Tourism Group JSC and the Investment Agency of Vietnam;
- A memorandum of understanding between Khabar Agency JSC and Vietnam Television.
