Astana, Kazakhstan – A Kazakh-Afghan business forum will be held in Astana on August 3, 2023. The forum will bring together more than 400 delegates from both countries to discuss promising joint projects in the field of telecommunications, energy, transport and logistics. The issues of bilateral cooperation between countries in the field of investment, trade and transit will also be touched upon, Turanews.kz reports.
Afghanistan is a connecting bridge between the republics of Central Asia, India and the countries of the Persian Gulf. It opens Kazakhstan access to the markets of the Middle East and further to African states. According to the Ministry of Trade, of all the Central Asian republics, Afghanistan trades the most with Kazakhstan. Last year, mutual trade reached almost $1 billion. In the coming years, the department plans to triple the figure.
The forum will be led by Afghan Trade Minister Nuriddin Azizi and Kazakh Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebaev. Other members of the delegations will include business representatives from a variety of sectors, including energy, telecommunications, banking, agriculture, and manufacturing.
Afghanistan is ready to send various agricultural products to Kazakhstan, including vegetables and fruits. Kazakh businesses are interested in exporting flour, wheat, sunflower oil, medicines, fertilizers, and rolled products to Afghanistan.
The forum will also feature a special exhibition of Afghan goods. The exhibition will showcase the country’s rich culture and traditions, as well as its growing economic potential.
The Kazakh-Afghan business forum is an important opportunity for both countries to strengthen their economic ties and expand their cooperation in a variety of areas. The forum is expected to lead to the signing of a number of agreements and the launch of new joint projects.
