World Foreign Press Association founded in Kazakhstan

The World Foreign Press Association (WFPA) was founded in Almaty on July 29, 2023. The founding meeting was attended by the presidents of the Association of Turkic-speaking Journalists, the European Association of Turkish Journalists, and the European Association of Turkish Publishers and Journalists, Turanews.kz reports.

Naziia Bisenova, President of the Association of Turkic-speaking Journalists, was elected President of the WFPA. Vatan Oz, President of the European Association of Turkish Journalists, and Alipasha Akbash, President of the European Association of Turkish Publishers and Journalists, were elected Vice Presidents.

The WFPA’s charter will be based on the principles of freedom of the press, the protection of journalists’ rights, and the promotion of media cooperation. The association will represent associations of reporters and journalists in print and digital media from around the world.

The WFPA plans to organize book presentations, meetings to discuss topical issues of the political and current agenda, seminars and conferences on various topics with the participation of leading experts.

An expanded meeting of the WFPA will be held in September in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.
