2,800 gold bars sold in Kazakhstan in June

Second-tier banks and selected non-bank exchange offices in Kazakhstan sold 2,791 gold bars with a total weight of 123.4 kilograms in June 2023, Turanews.kz reports.

The National Bank of Kazakhstan launched the program for the sale and repurchase of measured refined gold bars for the population in 2017. Since then, 132,396 gold bars with a total weight of 4.5 tons have been sold.

The most popular gold bar among buyers is a 10-gram bar, with 26% of total sales. 5-gram bars are the second most popular, with 23% of sales. 100-gram bars are third, with 21% of sales. 20-gram bars are fourth, with 18% of sales. And 50-gram bars are fifth, with 12% of sales.

The majority of gold bars were sold in Almaty (1,404 units, 50%), Shymkent (627 units, 22%), and Astana (168 units, 6%).

The National Bank said that the program for the sale and repurchase of measured refined gold bars is aimed at increasing the availability of gold for the population and providing an additional investment instrument.
