Uzbekistan President calls for visa-free regime and Free Trade Zone with Gulf countries

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for a visa-free regime and a free trade zone with the Gulf countries in a speech at the Jeddah Summit on July 19, 2023, Turanews.kz reports.

Mirziyoyev said that the visa-free regime would facilitate travel and trade between the two regions, and that the free trade zone would create new opportunities for cooperation in the areas of economy, investment, and culture.

The Uzbek president also proposed to establish a joint investment fund to finance projects of mutual interest.

Mirziyoyev’s speech was positively received by the leaders of the Gulf countries.

The Jeddah Summit was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and was attended by the heads of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia. The summit discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia.

The establishment of a visa-free regime and a free trade zone between Uzbekistan and the Gulf countries would be a major step towards improving relations between the two regions. The visa-free regime would facilitate travel and tourism, while the free trade zone would create new opportunities for trade and investment.

The joint investment fund proposed by Mirziyoyev would also be a significant development, as it would provide a mechanism for the two regions to cooperate on major projects.
