Turkology Summer School for Young Scholars Starts in Bishkek

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – The Summer School of Young Turkologists kicked off in Bishkek on June 19, 2023. The event is organized by the Turkic Academy with the support by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas”, Turanews.kz reports.

The opening ceremony of the Summer School was attended by Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, Muzaffer Şeker, President of TÜBA, Alpaslan Ceylan, Rector of the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas”, as well as well-known professors from universities of the Turkic world and young scientists from 14 countries.

In his welcoming speech, Sh. Mustafayev noted that Turkology is a value-based science and aimed at modern nation-building. Therefore, it is extremely important for Turkologists, as versatile specialists and true scientists, to communicate and establish contacts, to create a unified scientific environment with a common agenda that is of great importance for the Turkic states striving for multifaceted integration.

The Summer School will allow young scientists to meet each other, to present their projects and researches, get new information, and create networks for professional purposes. Young scientists will have the opportunity to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge of turkic the history, archaeology, language and literature of the Turkic world, as well as to develop their skills in such interrelated areas as scientific publications, presentations and the use of research funds allocated for research.

The Summer School will be held from June 19 to 26, 2023. The program will consist of daily lectures and technical seminars on the history, archaeology, language and literature of the Turkic world, include discussion sessions in working groups, as well as cultural events.
