The number of foreign tourists to Kazakhstan increased sharply in the first quarter of 2023, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the country. About 228,000 guests from abroad were served at the accommodation facilities, which is twice as much as the same period last year, Turanews.kz reports.
The majority of foreign tourists to Kazakhstan came from Russia, Türkiye, China, India, Uzbekistan, the United States, and Germany. Most travelers chose the cities of Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent as their holiday destinations. At the same time, the greatest number of visitors to the resort areas is noted in the Almaty mountain cluster. Also, vacationers prefer the Mangystau and Shchuchye-Burabai resort areas.
The increase in foreign tourist arrivals is a positive sign for Kazakhstan’s tourism industry. The country has a lot to offer tourists, including a rich history and culture, stunning natural beauty, and affordable prices. With continued investment in tourism infrastructure and marketing, Kazakhstan could become a major tourist destination in the years to come.
