Uzbekistan plans to eradicate AIDS completely by 2030, as announced at a press conference held at AIMK with the participation of the leadership and officials from the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health and the Republican AIDS Center, Turanews.kz reports.
Currently, over 48,000 people with HIV have been identified in the country.
In the past 5 years, the number of HIV tests has increased fivefold, from 700,000 to 3.5 million. The state has provided 80% of the funding for medications.
To prevent the transmission of HIV from mother to child, the country continuously provides powdered milk formulas to children born to HIV-positive mothers. As a result, 99.7% of these children are healthy, with an average of 600 cases annually.
