The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan announced the start of a campaign for early presidential elections to be held on July 9. The registration of candidates will end on June 6, Turanews.kz reports.
At the meeting on May 10, The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan approved the decision to announce the start of the campaign for early presidential elections which are scheduled for July 9.
The Deputy Chairman of the CEC Bakhrom Kuchkarov “the parties must apply for registration of their authorized representatives by May 13 and submit documents for participation in the elections by May 15” he said at the meeting.
Nomination of candidates by parties is scheduled between May 17 — June 1. Candidate registration documents must be submitted to the CEC by June 2 and it should end end on June 6.
It is worth mentioning that Only political parties have the right to nominate a presidential candidate and there are five parties registered in Uzbekistan.
