Kyrgyzstan starts construction of the first solar power plant with a capacity of 300 megawatts

In the village of Toru-Aigyr in the Issyk-Kul region, the construction of the first solar station (SPP) in Kyrgyzstan with a capacity of 300 megawatts has begun, Turanews.kz reports citing Bishkek Solar LLC, which is building the facility.

“Toru-Aigyr 2022” is being built on the basis of public-private partnership. On the part of the state, the partner is the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision. Together with partners from Kazakhstan – the TGS Construction company – the construction of the first 50 megawatts begins.

“The total capacity will be 300 megawatts, but we plan to bring it up to 1 gigawatt in the future. In Toru-Aigyr, one square meter can produce up to 1.6 thousand watts. This is the maximum figure in Kyrgyzstan,” hthe ead of Bishkek Solar, Azamat Iskembaev said .

Recall that the agreement on the implementation of the project was signed at the first Eurasian Economic Forum between the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Green Finance Center of the Astana International Financial Center and Bishkek Solar LLC. The EDB is ready to allocate $40 million for the project.

The solar station will be able to generate 600 million kilowatt-hours per year. This is equivalent to using over 140 million cubic meters of natural gas.
