The President of Uzbekistan proposed to declare February 6 a Day of Remembrance and solidarity in memory of the victims of earthquakes.

“As a tribute to the bright memory of all those who died prematurely, I propose to declare February 6 a Day of Remembrance and Solidarity within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States,” he stressed.

Mirziyoyev noted that today Türkiye, under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is taking urgent measures, including implementing extremely important plans and programs to provide housing for the population, build hundreds of thousands of new homes and restore infrastructure.

“We are all ready to help you and direct our efforts to the restoration of cities and villages destroyed by the earthquake and the construction of new towns and villages, social and industrial facilities. In particular, we intend to make a worthy contribution to the construction work in the Ovakent district of Hatay province, one of the epicenters of the earthquake, where our rescuers worked,” Mirziyoyev said.

The summit on the topic “Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid” was initiated by Azerbaijan against the backdrop of the consequences of the devastating February earthquakes in Türkiye.
