Orban: Turkic world will play key role in dialogue between global blocs

The Turkic world – Turkic-speaking states will play a key role in establishing a dialogue between global blocs. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking at an extraordinary Summit of the heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG) on Thursday in Ankara.
According to him, , Hungary is also facing serious challenges against the backdrop of the ongoing confrontation between Ukraine and Russia.
“Our country borders with Ukraine. Today the ethnic Hungarians are also dying on the battlefields who are living in a neighboring country, ”he said.
He noted that the bloodshed in Ukraine led to the “reshaping” of the whole of Europe, and the processes will also affect the Turkic world.
According to him, in the current situation, an early cessation of hostilities and peace agreements are important.
Orban thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for active contacts with both sides of the conflict. “Only in this way can we achieve peace. I am grateful to Mr. Erdogan for his contribution to the peace efforts,” the politician said.
He stressed that the absolute majority of humanity stands for peace in Ukraine.
The head of government further noted that Hungary, among dozens of countries in the world, hastened to help Türkiye against the backdrop of the devastating consequences of the February earthquakes with an epicenter in the province of Kahramanmaras.
“Hungary continues to help the victims of devastating quakes in Türkiye until this day and moreover, it is planned to send more than a hundred tons of medicines from Hungary to Türkiye” Orban said.
The summit on the topic “Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid” was initiated by Azerbaijan against the backdrop of the consequences of the devastating February earthquakes in Türkiye.
The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States was established in 2009. In November 2021, at the summit in Istanbul, the organization was named the Organization of Turkic States.
The OTS includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary participate as observers.
